Timeline _
It was an area that provided accommodation for travelers during the Koryeo and Chosun eras.
It was given the name Nowon for the reed fields that grew there.
It was incorporated into Kyunggyi-do, Yangjoo-gun during the reign of Hyunjong, (Chosun Dynasty, 1810),
becoming an important transit area along commercial routes to Japan and China. It then became Nohaemyun
in 1914, after the combination of Nohaemyun and Haedeungchonmyun.
It was incorporated into Sungbuk-gu in 1963, as the city of Seoul expanded, and was then incorporated once
more into Dobong-gu, in 1973. It was then to become a separate, autonomous district on 1st Jan., 1988.
It was an underdeveloped zone until the late 1980s, when large apartment complexes were first built.
